ASEAN Insurance Council (AIC) Meeting at a Glance

The ASEAN Insurance Council (AIC) is the regional platform representing the insurance industry across ASEAN.

What is AIC?

The ASEAN Insurance Council (AIC) is the regional platform representing the insurance industry across ASEAN. It brings together national insurance associations and serves as a platform for insurance leaders, professionals, and practitioners to network, exchange knowledge and expertise, and strengthen regional cooperation and collaboration for a more resilient and sustainable ASEAN insurance industry.

AIC was established in 1978 and subsequently obtained formal status as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in 1983. The AIC Meeting is held annually and, in recent years, has been organised alongside the ASEAN Insurance Regulators’ Meeting (AIRM), culminating in the AIRM–AIC Joint Plenary as a structured platform for dialogue between ASEAN insurance regulators and the industry.

Main Objectives

AIC aims to:

  • Strengthen regulatory and supervisory cooperation;

  • Exchange information and regulatory developments;

  • Promote sound insurance market development and inclusion

  • Support ASEAN financial integration

  • Strengthen supervisory capacity and implementation of international standards

  • Address emerging risks such as climate change, digitalisation, cyber risk, and protection gaps

52nd AIC Meeting in Bali, Indonesia | 16–19 November 2026

The 52nd ASEAN Insurance Council Meeting will form part of the AIRM–AIC series of meetings hosted in Bali, Indonesia, from 16–19 November 2026, alongside the 29th ASEAN Insurance Regulators’ Meeting and the AIRM–AIC Joint Plenary.

The overall meetings will be held under the theme: “Strengthening the Resilience of the ASEAN Insurance Ecosystem: Navigating Global Uncertainty and Accelerating Digital Transformation.”

For AIC, the meeting provides an opportunity for ASEAN insurance associations and industry leaders to consolidate regional industry perspectives, review the progress of AIC committees and initiatives, and engage directly with ASEAN regulators through the AIRM–AIC Joint Plenary.
