ASEAN Insurance Regulators’ Meeting (AIRM) at a Glance

The ASEAN Insurance Regulators’ Meeting (AIRM) is the annual forum of insurance regulators and supervisors across ASEAN.

What is AIRM?

The ASEAN Insurance Regulators’ Meeting (AIRM) is the annual forum of insurance regulators and supervisors across ASEAN. Established in 1998, AIRM serves as a platform to strengthen regional cooperation in insurance regulation and supervision, market development, research, and capacity building, including through the ASEAN Insurance Training and Research Institute (AITRI). AIRM also holds an annual Joint Plenary Meeting with the insurance industry, including the ASEAN Insurance Council (AIC) and related regional bodies, to exchange views on the progress and implementation of ASEAN insurance initiatives. The 1st AIRM was held on 28–29 October 1998 in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.

 

Main Objectives

AIRM aims to:

  • Strengthen regulatory and supervisory cooperation;

  • Exchange information and regulatory developments;

  • Promote sound insurance market development and inclusion

  • Support ASEAN financial integration

  • Strengthen supervisory capacity and implementation of international standards

  • Address emerging risks such as climate change, digitalisation, cyber risk, and protection gaps

The 29th ASEAN Insurance Regulators’ Meeting (AIRM) and related meetings will be hosted and chaired by Indonesia through the Financial Services Authority (OJK) on 16–19 November 2026 at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali. The meeting will bring together ASEAN insurance regulators and supervisors under the theme “Strengthening the Resilience of the ASEAN Insurance Ecosystem: Navigating Global Uncertainty and Accelerating Digital Transformation.”

The four-day programme will feature the 29th AIRM, the 52nd ASEAN Insurance Council (AIC) Meeting, and the AIRM–AIC Joint Plenary, complemented by related meetings and capacity-building activities.

Advancing cooperation, strengthening resilience, and shaping the future of insurance in ASEAN.
